Brian Tonna is an Accordion virtuoso and composer born in Sydney Australia in 1955. He comes from a few generations of accordion players, and at the age of seven had already started studying his art with a polish master. In 1974 he moved to Malta, and has used his inimitable skill of accordion playing and collaborated with a number of songwriters, musicians, established bands, choirs, theatre and musical performing groups. Starting from a Classical Music background Brian has fused his music with Folk, Swing, Latin, Tango, Country, Blues, Jazz and contemporary music.

Besides numerous performances Brian Tonna has also composed a number of scores and music for theatre groups and musicals such the revolutionary musical Storja tal-Poplu whom Tonna composed all music for in 1983. He has written music for the Shalom Choir, and for a number of folk music productions such as Victoria in 1985. In the last three decades has played a number of events such as Ghanafest and Ghanja tal-Poplu. Moreover, many artists have had Tonna collaborate in their music compositions, recordings and productions such as contemporary band Plato's Dream Machine. Latin group Iskay, and songwriters Frank O'Neil, Andrew Zammit, Renato Briffa and his daughter singer/songwriter Claire Tonna.

With all his exquisite skill, experience and passion of accordion playing Brian Tonna is truly an authentic accordion virtuoso and the most humble as he talks and communicates not through words but through the music he was born in and continuously lives with. Presently Tonna is performing as a soloist and is indulged with fusing all his musical background and styles in one. He is working on his first solo album which will portray his inimitable virtuoso accordion playing as his heart and soul gently speak through it.
